Ανακοινώθηκαν οι υποψηφιότητες για τα 77α Βραβεία Emmy, με την δραματική σειρά «Severance» του Apple TV+ να αναδεικνύεται σε απόλυτο πρωταγωνιστή της φετινής διοργάνωσης. Η επιτυχημένη σειρά επιστημονικής φαντασίας συγκέντρωσε 27 υποψηφιότητες, ανάμεσά τους για Καλύτερη Δραματική Σειρά, Σκηνοθεσία και Ερμηνείες, σηματοδοτώντας την εντυπωσιακή επιστροφή της μετά από σχεδόν δύο χρόνια απουσίας.
Αμέσως πίσω της ακολουθούν δύο εκπλήξεις: το «The Penguin», η νέα σειρά με πρωταγωνιστή τον Κόλιν Φάρελ ως διαβόητο κακοποιό του σύμπαντος του Batman, και το φρέσκο κωμικό project «The Studio», που έκαναν το ντεμπούτο τους με 24 υποψηφιότητες η καθεμία. Το εξαιρετικά επιτυχημένο «The White Lotus»συμπληρώνει την κορυφαία τετράδα με 23 υποψηφιότητες, αποδεικνύοντας τη διαρκή δυναμική του στις βραβεύσεις.
Στην κατηγορία της Καλύτερης Δραματικής Σειράς, η «Severance» καλείται να ανταγωνιστεί μερικές από τις πιο πολυσυζητημένες παραγωγές της χρονιάς: «The Last of Us», «The White Lotus», «Andor», «Slow Horses», «The Diplomat», «Paradise» και «The Pitt». Από την άλλη, στην Καλύτερη Κωμική Σειρά, ισχυρές υποψηφιότητες συγκέντρωσαν οι σειρές «The Bear», «Abbott Elementary», «Hacks», «Only Murders in the Building», «Shrinking» και η πρωτοεμφανιζόμενη «Nobody Wants This».
Σημαντική εκπροσώπηση έχουν και οι μίνι σειρές (Limited Series), με το «The Penguin» να θεωρείται φαβορί για το βραβείο Καλύτερης Μίνι Σειράς, ενώ υποψήφιες είναι επίσης οι «Black Mirror», «Dying for Sex», «Adolescence» και «Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story».
Ανάμεσα στις πιο αξιοσημείωτες ατομικές υποψηφιότητες ξεχωρίζουν ο Gary Oldman («Slow Horses»), η Bella Ramsey («The Last of Us»), η Keri Russell («The Diplomat»), και ο Matt Smith («House of the Dragon») στις δραματικές ερμηνείες, ενώ στην κατηγορία της κωμωδίας διακρίνονται οι Jeremy Allen White («The Bear») και Quinta Brunson («Abbott Elementary»). Το HBO/Max ηγείται και φέτος με 142 υποψηφιότητες, ακολουθούμενο από το Netflix (120), το Apple TV+ (81) και το Disney+ (137), καταδεικνύοντας την επιρροή που διατηρούν οι ψηφιακές πλατφόρμες στη σύγχρονη τηλεοπτική πραγματικότητα.
Η τελετή απονομής των Emmy Awards 2025 έχει προγραμματιστεί για τις 14 Σεπτεμβρίου, με την παρουσίαση να έχει αναλάβει ο κωμικός Nate Bargatze.
